Translation

The art of written language transfer. Translation requires subject knowledge and industry experience as well as a high level of competence in both the languages involved. For more information on the translation process and the types of subjects and documents handled, visit our Translation page.

Interpreting aka Interpretation

The art of spoken language transfer. Interpreting requires good communication skills, excellent topic understanding as well as impartiality and confidentiality. There are different types of interpreting styles suited to different kinds of events. Read more on our Interpreting page to find out which one is best for you.

Proofreading

The art of accuracy. There are a number of levels of proofreading available according the purpose for which the text is to be used. At a basic level, grammar, spelling and punctuation are checked and revised as necessary. At the top level it includes additional checks on writing style, meaning and content. Whatever the level, this skill ultimately requires excellent language skills, meticulous attention to detail and extreme precision. For more information on what is involved, visit our Proofreading page.

Desktop Publishing

The art of creating well-designed  and visually attractive text. Typesetting in a foreign language is inevitably a minefield for the typesetter - so our typesetters work in their own language. Strict rules on punctuation, hyphenation and spacing vary from one language to another and some languages use the same symbols as English but with different meanings. And of course, there are obvious dangers in typesetting languages that use different fonts or read right to left. Our Desktop Publishing page will show you how you can make sure your time and your investment in an effective English version is not let down by the foreign language versions.

Multimedia

The art of digital communication. Gone are the days when translation work was restricted to pen and paper. Nowadays, as the boundaries of digital communication expand, so too do translation formats and processes. So, if you are looking for website translation or subtitling, foreign language voiceovers or online multilingual e-learning programmes, take a look at the information on our Multimedia page for more details.

French Translator

“I have been translating technical English, Danish and Spanish into French since 1981. My main subjects are telecoms, IT, patents, and automation (esp. for machine-tools) but I have covered many other subjects for Peak. I enjoy working for them because they know what translation is about.”
