FAQs

How do we get started? Can you help?

Certainly, just talk to us. We will understand your language problems and what’s more we can help you solve them. We will also send you a free copy of our booklet “Translation – getting it right”.

How do you charge?

Your choice – per 1000 words, per line, or by the hour.

Are there any additional costs?

We avoid extra costs wherever possible. If you really need your translation so quickly that we have to adjust our schedules to work through the evening or weekend there will, of course, usually be a surcharge.

Does the cost vary according to the text?

Yes. The more highly specialised the subject area, the higher the qualifications of the translator. Some texts also require multi-disciplinary coordination between several translators.

Different charges for different languages?

You will find that the more common languages cost less than the “exotics”. Market forces dictate our costs, as you would expect. We will endeavour to keep the costs to a minimum for all languages, without sacrificing quality or certainty of delivery.

Do you use human translators or machines?

As in most professions, the best results are still achieved by humans aided by computers. For more information on Computer Aided Translation (CAT), click here.

Who does the translation?

Our native language professional specialists. Our translators must have professional qualifications and, more importantly, experience. A degree is not enough.

What method of checking is used?

Every text is checked at several levels in accordance with our unique Quality Procedures. We are audited regularly to ensure strict adherence to our ISO 9001:2000 Quality Assurance System. (Incidentally we were the first to achieve this standard.)

Will it be a mother tongue translator?

Naturally – our translators work only into their own mother tongue language. In addition your translator will have the necessary expertise to do full justice to the special nature of your text.

Do you carry indemnity insurance?

Yes, of course. You may be reassured to know that we have never had a claim on our professional indemnity insurance.

How long does a translation take?

Depending on the subject matter, our professional translators normally translate up to 2,500 words a day. Ideally a translation should be completed by a single translator.

So you can’t translate 100 pages in 3 days?

No problem. Our team of translators will work closely together, developing the glossaries & translation memories in parallel.

What about confidentiality?

Before joining Peak Translations our translators sign a confidentiality agreement guaranteeing 100% confidentiality. In all our years translating confidentiality has never been breached.

What should we look for in a quotation?

Always make sure you are comparing like with like, quality with quality. Are there any hidden charges? Will the company guarantee there will be no surcharges? We do. With Peak the quotation price is the invoice price.

We have a cheaper quote, so why use Peak?

The best isn't always the cheapest and the cheapest isn't always the best. Click here to find out why Peak is best.

Do you measure customer satisfaction?

Yes. We ensure that our customers are satisfied – always. We remain in close contact before, during & after the job. We also conduct a regular Customer Satisfaction Survey as part of our ISO 9001:2000 Quality Assurance system.
